As a part of the youth exchange within Erasmus + project entitled "Interculturalism BEYOND Multiculturalism", in the period from 06th – 15th May 2022, 6 young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, including 4 members and volunteers of Youth for Peace, and 2 members of the Homework hub with which Youth for Peace cooperates, stayed in the Italian town of Lignochio. The exchange gathered 30 young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Kosovo, Hungary, and Serbia. The topic of the exchange was intercultural dialogue. During the workshops, participants had the opportunity to discuss their own cultural identity, the relationship between different cultures, multiculturalism, and the problem of discrimination, including racism, xenophobia, and nationalism, as well as how to communicate respectfully about the differences between us.
Through various methods of work and experimenting with non-formal education techniques, the trainers offered the participants to learn and exchange their own thoughts in a multicultural context through a creative environment. During the intercultural evening, young people had the opportunity to present the country they come from, their own culture, traditions, and customs to other participants. During the workshops, young people shared good practices and examples of intercultural dialogue and its application in different contexts, adapting them to different realities.
The Erasmus + program enables participants to show responsibility for the customs and culture of their community, to build and show respect for the traditions and customs of other communities, as well as to raise awareness of the importance of European values on a daily basis.
