From 11 to 15 July 2024, a youth exchange within the project "MOST", was held in Sombor, Serbia. The project is implemented by Youth for Peace and the Sombor Educational Center - SEC with the support of the Ecumenical Women's Initiative - EWI. Ten young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia gathered during the exchange and, with the SEC facilitators, discussed peace education topics, emphasising conflict resolution, interfaith education, human rights, and the issue of peacebuilding in the region with a focus on youth.
On the first and second days of the exchange, the facilitators presented topics from the peace education oeuvre through interactive and participant-oriented activities. Thus, the participants took part in the role play and through it, they better understood human rights, especially through the prism of gender. In addition, through the "Human barometer" exercise, the participants exchanged opinions regarding the state of peace and the possibility of lasting peace in the Balkans. Finally, through a timeline exercise, they mapped all important dates for (un)peace in our region.
In addition to the workshops, the participants had the opportunity to visit Sombor, meet and learn more about the cultural and historical heritage of this beautiful city, and also enjoy the natural beauty that Sombor offers, such as the Great Bačka Canal. On the last day of the exchange, with the support of facilitators, young people worked on designing and creating an online campaign related to peace education. Follow the SEC and YfP social media to discover what the young people have created.
