The USAID campaign "Meet the Real Heroes" follows the life stories of students from Jajce, Nevesinje, Konjic, Donji Vakuf and Banja Luka, in which they prove how to live in BiH without any divisions and to fight them personally, respecting all faiths and nations, building inseparable bridges of friendship, honestly.
This year, the main characters of one of the three USAID "Real Heroes" stories are participants of the Youth for Peace Summer School of Peace. The story follows Melika, Ivan, Zorana and Mateo who have worked together with their colleagues from BiH and Italy on renovation of the house when they replaced the roof of Mrs. Mara’s house from Banja Luka.
Young heroes with their activities and attitudes resist the system that state is imposing for more than twenty years, and they teach all of us lessons about coexistence. There are no limits for them because they break down all the barriers fighting against hate speech and segregation in BiH. „It does not matter what your name is, it is important that you are a good friend“ – this is one of the messages of brave, young people who fight divisions and who are looking for their own way for better future.
“This campaign is a continuation of a successful last year's campaign that had talked about of positive stories of teachers and professors, the real heroes who with their action, give an example to others pedagogues, but also the whole society how to create an environment in which every child in BiH will feel safe, cared of and important. This time in the centre of this campaign are students, the future of this country, young people from who we can surely learn something” says Petar Duffy, the Director of the USAID mission in BiH.
„In our struggle we had only our friendships. Nothing else we need. We did it. Everything is possible“ – it is the message of brave young people from Jajce, who raised their voice and sent message to the authorities that they do not want separation through „two school under one roof“.
