In the period of September 9th – September 15th 2017, in hotel Saraj in Sarajevo, URI Global Leadership Gathering was held. Youth for Peace was host and co-organizer of this event.
More than 100 people from different parts of the world, from all continents, representing various religious communities and traditions were present on this meeting and made Sarajevo a place where representatives of more than 50 countries and nations all over the world gathered at the same time. Participants of this meeting talked about the future of URI as a network that gathers 890 organizations from the whole world, with the accent on the role and importance of these organizations and what they represent for this network.
Youth for Peace is one of the URI CC’s (corporate circle), whose member it became since its founding in 2014. Thanks to the work, commitment and its activity, Youth for Peace was recognized as a valuable member of this network and got the honor to organize this gathering.
Within this event, participants had the opportunity to visit and get to know Sarajevo through interactive game, but to also to pay a visit to Herzegovina. During Herzegovina trip, participants visited Međugorje, one of the biggest catholic sanctuaries today, monastery Žitomislić and dervish house on Buna in Blagaj. In these places hosts greeted participants and briefly talked about these religious sites, their history, as well as about their importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina and common life in it.
As a part of this gathering, meeting of URI Europe was also held from September 15th until September 17th in hotel Saraj, where participants talked about URI in Europe, further plans and work of this organization on the European soil and area.
